Y: Slow TV Cinema is a coproduction project of Prague´s X10 Theatre, New Theatre Institute of Latvia and Homo Novus Utrecht.
Slow cinema as a presentation format creates both, a shared space and a touring event, using the notion of “slowness” as an adaptation, emancipation, and escape strategy from the world of cultural industries and an ongoing flow of art production. The project's structure works with and supports the diversity of artistic backgrounds, focal points, ages, identities, and genres. 24 invited artists and collectives are reacting through their practice on a commission bonded just by formal rules: to create a “slow” 60-minute-long film.
The outcome is a unique event, a pop-up sleepover slow TV cinema, which is presented in the frameworks of the Homo Novus Festival in Riga and Y Events in Prague and through the online platform of Homo Novus.
