Roller Dances: Liminal Disco
We are transforming X10 Theatre into a skating ring where the lines between the audience and performers are blurred.
Liminal Disco is a performance and community experience. Combining street culture of roller skating with performance and fine art. Expect a night of breaking glass ceilings and disrupting the social ladder of access and privilege that often segregates cultural groups. We are creating a beautiful euphony of worlds.
The roller disco is like a planet with multiple rings. Each will represent a different relationship between skating and art. While the performances are running, the audience can freely skate around the ring. What are the stories that will be told in the centre of the rink? Tales of failure, concern, longevity, and heartbreak. Classic stories that connect us all. Despite the worlds we exist in.
Everyone is invited to participate. Everyone can bring their own skates and enter the ring. And those, who do not have one, could borrow one of ours.
