Play Havel is an exclusive project created by the Theatre X10 and the Václav Havel Library. It is based on the dramas of the famous author, the last Czechoslovak president and the first Czech president Václav Havel. The project Play Havel takes the audience to a website which represents a particular office building. The spectator can choose which office they want to visit. Therefore, each spectator perceives the story in a different way. From the formal perspective, Play Havel uses first-person shots which immediately plunge the audience into the story. According to the creators, the project is an experimental web site specific.
The shooting took place in the House of Applied Arts (Dům uměleckého průmyslu), a functionalist house that used to be an office building. The monologues are presented by the actors of the Theatre X10, a progressive scene based in Prague. Play Havel will be officially launched in autumn 2022 when the website playhavel.cz will be accessible to anyone for free. Play Havel will also be presented in cinemas in a hybrid version which combines film with theatre.
