The concert series ECHOES seeks understanding and empathy in cultural and social problematics through a diverse dramaturgy of contemporary music by artists from around the world. This year's focus is on music for cello and percussion, complemented by electronics, violin, harp, flute, and coffee cups.
The program consists of four works by Iranian composers and five works by composers from the Czech Republic, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK, and will be performed on 16 June at Divadlo X10 and on 18 June at Punctum - Krásovka. The concept of two divergent venues can serve toward an idea of a conflict x resolution: X10 will offer an immersive experience in a large industrial space encouraging the realities and questions to come forth, while Punctum will bring intimacy, a closer connection to the artists, and overall atmosphere bringing reconciliation to the evening.
Part of the program was presented this February in Helsinki with the support of the European Union Commission and the Sibelius Academy. The Prague concerts bring the world premiere of Brian Shank's SISU (USA) and European premieres of works: 7:00 AM Tehran Zone - Nasim Khorassani (IRN), A Mind In The Branches - Nicholas Denton Protsack (CA), Pandora's Box - Dariush Derakhshani (IRN|GER), My Loathed - Shayaan Sepehrmand (IRN), RIVEN - Natasha Frank (UK); and will feature works: Inside the Letters by Hamed Chanagaei (IRN), Silver Lining by Lukáš Janata (CZ), and Reflect by Salina Fisher (NZ).
